Celebrate or Not?

In another 6 weeks, little Jeremiah will be ONE!

Tim and I have been discussing to celebrate or not and how to celebrate if we wanna celebrate?

On one hand I am thinking we should celebrate coz we have come through so much in this one year and we should celebrate the life God has given Jere so abundantly and how God has been with us!

On the other hand, whenever we talk bout celebrations, it scares me. Celebrations almost equates to spending money. The thoughts of the costs that we will incur scares me....the thought of expenses.... money is always at the back of my mind with Jere's medical expenses, therapy, alternative treatment, etc and he's got no insurance as birth defect babies can never be covered, not even the education plan.

Then suddenly this line struck me.... from where really i can't recall but it goes this way....

I will celebrate! Sing unto the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song!

kisses for my little warrior :)

just to share, we didn't spend that much on yohei's first birthday either. we did everything on our own -

* bought decorations from one of those shops from concourse (nice birthday banners, balloons). things are quite cheap and the stuff can be kept and re-used. they even have party-ware (plates, cups, hats etc) that will not burn a hole in your pocket.
* again, concourse to the rescue as i prepared goody bags for the little ones with thing i picked out from there (kaleidoscope for the older kids, clappers for the little ones, party hats, little birthday bags, baby bites for the babies and some caramel sweets for the older ones) they have those party 'balloon whistles' that they sell in packs of 6 or something. prices are good.
* food kept simple - birthday cake from a neighbourhood shop in hock hai bldg (quite yummy chocolate cake), cheeses, hams, water crackers & dips from carrefour, dh's swiss chix wings (with some sausages thrown in for good measure), little sushis with omelete, cucumbers, crab sticks, fried beehoon from mom, and bil brought us a roast duck (wonder how it could all go together hehehe), packet drinks and bottles of mineral water

we didn't play games but you can do simple ones like blow, wind, blow, musical chairs etc and the prizes can be from concourse again (coloured pencils @ $2 a pack!).

all in all, we spent less than $100... :) you know what? i'll be happy to bring jere some of those yummy chix wings that dh makes :)
